Tree Root Barriers Can Help Protect Your Concrete

Tree Root Barriers Can Help Protect Your Concrete

November 22, 2019 Posted by John Loughridge Our Blog, Product Blog, Video No Comments

Do you have concrete that is lifted because of roots from a nearby tree? Concrete Texturing can replace the concrete and make it look new again. However, we strongly recommend considering a root barrier to help protect your beautiful new concrete.  Root barrier is a rigid polyethylene sheet between 12 and 24 inches high that can be buried between you trees and the concrete.

As you can see in the photo below one palm tree can cause a lot of damage. It looks like the pool is sinking but in fact the roots have lifted nearly the concrete in their search for water. Just to the right of the tree is our solution. A black roll of root barrier ready  to be installed when we replace the concrete pool deck.

The sad thing is that a simple root barrier could have help prevent this situation all together. Root barrier works with the roots to direct them down and away from the concrete. Unlike chemical root treatments, a plastic root barrier is safe for your children, pets, and your trees.
