The Challenge
A portion of the existing concrete walkway was damaged and needed to be repoured. The challenge was to ensure that the new concrete matched the existing walkway, avoiding any noticeable differences in appearance.
The Solution
Day 1: Surface Preparation
- Removed the damaged concrete portion and repoured new concrete.
- Prepared the entire walkway surface to ensure uniform adhesion of the overlay.
Day 2: Overlay Application
- Applied a hand-textured random stone overlay across the entire walkway to create a consistent appearance.
- Used Terracotta/Taupe 4/1 iron oxide pigments to achieve a matching color across the walkway and garage floor.
- Stained and sealed the overlay to protect the surface and ensure longevity.
Result
Elbert was pleased with the seamless look of his walkway, which now showed no signs of the previous damage. The hand-textured overlay provided a consistent, attractive finish that blended perfectly with the rest of the property.
Unique Comment
This project was a great solution to avoid replacing the entire walkway or having a mismatched area in the middle. The use of a hand-textured random stone overlay allowed for a cohesive and aesthetically pleasing result.
