The Challenge
Rita’s driveway was marred by tire marks transferred to the grey concrete due to a recent street reseal. She wanted a solution that would make it easier to clean the driveway and desired a thicker, more pronounced stamped overlay for added texture and appeal.
The Solution
Day 1: Surface Preparation
- Thoroughly cleaned the existing concrete surfaces to remove dirt and tire marks.
- Prepared the surfaces to ensure optimal adhesion for the overlay and epoxy systems.
Day 2: Application of Driveway Overlay
- Applied an Old Granite stamped overlay with a Sandalwood base and Walnut highlights.
- Created a thicker overlay to achieve a deeper, more pronounced stamp pattern as per Rita’s request.
Day 3: Garage Epoxy System
- Applied the Epoxy Chip system in the garage, starting with a base coat followed by decorative chips.
- Sealed the surface with a clear topcoat for protection and a glossy finish.
Final Touches
- Sealed the driveway overlay with a polyurethane finish to make cleaning easier and enhance durability.
Result
Rita was very satisfied with the outcome. The driveway’s thicker stamp pattern added the desired depth, while the polyurethane sealant made it easier to maintain. The garage floor was also transformed into a durable, low-maintenance space with a polished finish.
